Bank partners with local Chamber of Commerce organizations to bring nationwide movement to local communities
MONTGOMERY, N.Y. (December 2, 2016) – On Saturday, November 26, Walden Savings Bank teamed up with the Blooming Grove/Washingtonville Chamber of Commerce and the Pine Bush Area Chamber of Commerce to support Small Business Saturday®. Small Business Saturday® is celebrated by communities across the nation; the initiative was established in an effort to inspire consumers to show support to small business owners by shopping or dining at locally-owned businesses.

Beyond stimulating community businesses, shopping small on November 26 offered exciting perks:
• Pine Bush – Those who shopped at participating stores on Small Business Saturday were entered in a drawing to win one of nine $25 gift cards. Additionally, shoppers who stopped by a Welcome Station received complimentary shopping bags and other promotional items.
• Washingtonville – Shoppers who visited a Welcome Station were entered in a drawing to win a Kindle Fire HD, courtesy of Walden Savings Bank and the Blooming Grove/Washingtonville Chamber of Commerce. Complimentary gifts were also distributed in celebration of Small Business Saturday.
As a result of the initiative, local businesses experienced a rise in both sales and foot traffic. This year, according to results from the Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey released by the National Federation of Independent Business and American Express, an estimated 112 million consumers reported shopping at small businesses on Small Business Saturday®, a 13 percent increase from 2015.
