MONTGOMERY, N.Y. (May 11, 2020) – Each year Walden Savings Bank hosts its annual “22 Days of Giving” campaign to give back to the people and organizations who make a difference in the Hudson Valley. As a result of the global pandemic affecting our communities today, the Bank has announced mid-year donations in the amount of $11,000 to support those in need and health care professionals working on the front lines of the coronavirus.

“Our Walden Savings Bank family has historically come together to help those in need during the holidays. But this year, we recognize the tremendous amount of need that is prevalent in our community right now. Thus we have decided to immediately disperse funds with an intent to also do a second round of donations during our annual 22 Days of Giving campaign in December,” said Derrik R. Wynkoop, President and CEO of Walden Savings Bank. “A large portion of the money was donated to food causes within the bank’s branch network as the need is so prevalent at this time.  Another significant portion was distributed to first responders and health care workers to keep them fortified during their care for COVID 19 patients. They truly are our heroes.”

Walden Savings Bank employees make a weekly contribution for the opportunity to dress casually each Friday. These donations, along with a match by the Bank, are divided amongst the bank’s 22 branches and departments who then choose to support causes that are meaningful to them.

In addition to providing direct support to families in need and essential workers, organizations that received monetary donations from the Bank include: Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, Back Pack Snack Attack, Access Supports for Living, Fearless (Formerly Known as Safe Homes), Girl Scouts – Heart of the Hudson, Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan – COVID 19 Fund, Humane Society of Walden, Regional Economic Community Action Program (RECAP), and Dutchess Outreach, among others.

During this period of state-wide social distancing, Walden Savings Bank has continued to offer its full service line to new and existing customers by utilizing the drive-thru locations at each of the Bank’s 11 branches. Personal and Virtual appointments are also available. To learn more about Walden Savings Bank and COVID-19 resources, please visit waldensavings.bank/covid19resources.
