Bank expresses commitment to community with awards to local not-for-profit organizations
CORNWALL-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. (November 3, 2016) – On Friday, October 21, Walden Savings Bank celebrated its 40th year of providing banking products and services to the Cornwall community. In honor of the branch’s 40th anniversary, the Bank hosted a celebration, at which four local not-for-profit organizations were each presented with a $500 contribution.
Contributions were awarded to Access: Supports for Living, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, Food Bank of the Hudson Valley and Storm King Fire Engine Co. No. 2. Additionally, Walden Savings Bank presented a $2,500 sponsorship to the Hudson Highland Nature Museum to support its “I Spy” Halloween Trail, a family-friendly Halloween attraction.
Community members in attendance were entered in a drawing for a chance to win a “Taste of Cornwall” gift certificate to one of ten local Cornwall businesses. As a tribute to the branch’s inception in 1976, local dignitaries were also presented with bicentennial coins by Jeffrey D. Crist, Chairman of the Board of Walden Savings Bank.
“As a community bank, it is important to us to be a part of the communities we serve,” said President and CEO, Derrik Wynkoop. “We would like to thank the residents of Cornwall for their continued trust and support throughout the past forty years. We could not think of a better way to celebrate this milestone than by giving back to the local organizations who make such a big difference in our community.”
