Verticon’s role as general contractor ensures success in construction of new Warwick Transit Station

MONROE, N.Y. (Aug. 15, 2017) – Verticon Ltd., the Monroe-based, full-service construction company, played a significant role as general contractor in the creation of the newly opened $2.7 million Warwick Transit Station in the Town of Warwick.

“We are so honored and proud to have led the effort to build this beautiful building, which houses an important and vital service to Warwick residents,” said Verticon President and CEO Alan Zuckerman. “The Warwick Transit Station serves as a great example of when government entities and local firms work together to make a positive difference in the lives of many people. It’s also another example of Verticon’s commitment to advancing the quality of life in the communities where we work.”

The 9,500-square-foot pre-engineered building is located at 63 Public Works Drive and officially opened on Aug. 7 with a ribbon cutting ceremony, which was attended by state, county and town and village officials in addition to community and business leaders.

“This is the most vibrant transit center in Orange County,” said Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton during the ceremony. “Warwick is the first hub in ‘the spoke program’ in Orange County.”

Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus praised the team effort that made the new transit station a reality. He noted that while Orange County does have transportation challenges, a solid transportation system is vital to the county’s economy. The Warwick Transit Station exemplifies the commitment of federal, state, county, town and village officials to improve local transportation to meet the needs of Warwick and surrounding communities, he said.

“I want to thank the town board of Warwick for their dedication to this program and to all the agencies that were involved with the construction,” said Jennifer Crover, Warwick Transit Station manager. “This will be the beginning of great things to come for the Town of Warwick.”

Ninety percent of costs were financed by Federal Transportation Capital Funds, secured through the efforts of former U.S. Rep. Sue Kelly. Orange County firms designed and constructed the building under a project labor agreement using Orange County trades labor.
