UNITED WATER AND NAWC OFFER SCHOLARSHIPS TO HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

united water logoWEST NYACK, NY, March 4, 2015 – United Water, in cooperation with the National Association of Water Companies–New York Chapter, is offering five $2,500 scholarships to high school seniors who will be attending a university or college in New York and pursuing a degree related to the water utility field.

The NAWC’s membership consists of water companies in the private sector. The scholarships are designed to encourage careers in the water industry and to assist eligible seniors who plan to study related fields such as natural resource management, environmental sciences, biology, chemistry or engineering.

“The water industry has become increasingly complex,” said Chris Graziano, general manager of the United Water New York Division. “It is essential that we provide upcoming leaders with the education to manage and sustain the nation’s water supplies.”

This scholarship is being offered to high school seniors who meet the following criteria:

  • United States citizen
  • A New York resident for 5 years
  • High school senior pursuing a degree at a New York college or university (two- or four-year) as an undergraduate student (part- or full-time)
  • Maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 GPA grading scale
  • Enrolling in a curriculum related to the water utility industry or related fields such as natural resource management, environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, engineering, computer science, environmental law, etc.
