ULSTER COUNTY EXECUTIVE MIKE HEIN ANNOUNCES 2011 DINING GUIDE

Magazine to be distributed in Ulster County and throughout New York State

Kingston, N.Y. (October 27, 2011) – Ulster County Executive Mike Hein announced today the release of the Ulster County Dining Guide — the county’s first publication dedicated solely to dining in the area.

“With the Ulster County Dining Guide, visitors and residents will be able to quickly choose from the incredible variety of Ulster County’s culinary opportunities,” Hein said. “This is our first time offering the publication, and we’re pleased to be able to promote the county’s finest restaurants — and some of the country’s most talented chefs — for everyone who visits or lives in our region.”

The Dining Guide provides a detailed listing of Ulster County eateries, including 18 towns, 27 hamlets and villages, and covers seven distinct categories of eateries: restaurants, pizzerias, Chinese food, ice cream stores, delis, fast food and farmers’ markets. Readers have easy access to addresses, phone numbers, websites, hours of operation and descriptions.

Features of the 42-page, full-color brochure include:

  • A full map that displays the towns, hamlets and villages of Ulster County
  • A unique graphic design featuring photos of the region’s dining options
  • A QR code for readers to scan with their mobile device to quickly access an electronic version of the Ulster County Dining Guide, which is searchable by type and location; and
  • Paid advertising that helped finance the production of the Dining Guide

More than 25,000 copies of The Dining Guide will be available at numerous locations throughout Ulster County, as well as multiple rest areas on the New York State thruways, weather kiosks and the county office building.

Ulster County is located less than 90 minutes from midtown Manhattan, and encompasses 250,000 wild acres, 35 peaks and 350 miles of hiking trails. Biking, hiking, kayaking, wind surfing, horseback riding, fly-fishing, and the list of activities in the county goes on. Any destination visited by tourists is sure to provide four seasons of recreation and adventure.
