Twelfth annual Cinco De Mayo Festival Scheduled for Saturday, May 5th.

Event will take place at Casa Villa’s Big Parking Lots

Kingston, N.Y. (May 1, 2012) – The 12th annual Cinco De Mayo Festival will take place at Casa Villa Mexican Restaurant in Kingston on Saturday, May 5th for a day full of entertainment, food,  kids’ rides and celebration.

“This is a fantastic family event with a lot of fun things to do,” Ulster County Executive Mike Hein said. “There will be great live music and activities, as well as crafts and delicious foods from all over Latin America. It’s something the City of Kingston and the Latino population should be incredibly proud of.”

“This annual event continues to make our community a better place to live by bringing together people of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds,” said Mayor Shayne Gallo. “The Latino population has become an important part of our community as it continues to contribute to the economic growth and cultural diversity of our city and region”.

An assortment of vendors will be selling crafts, clothes and food from many parts of Latin America and the world from noon to 9 p.m., rain or shine. There is no admission and parking at Casa Villa’s parking lots located at 395 Albany Ave. in Kingston. There will also be free shuttle service from the Kingston Armory to the festival via Kingston Citibus from noon to 9 p.m.

“The entire community and visitors are invited to celebrate and participate in this unique experience,” said Jose Villa, event organizer and the owner of Casa Villa. “Every year, it’s been growing. We want the festival to be family-oriented. That’s why we have kids’ rides and wholesome entertainment.”

Entertainment for this year will include performances by “Mariachi Viva Mexico,” which will be playing authentic mariachi Mexican music as they stroll through the crowd; “El Ballet Folklorico,” known for their native Mexican dances; “The Kingston Jazz Band,” “Grupo Kachao” and “Grupo Atados Musicales,” the latter providing upbeat Mexican music. Each performer promises to deliver a wide range of Mexican music from traditional to modern for a full day of dancing.

Special thanks and consideration goes out to the City of Kingston and Casa Villa Restaurant in addition to sponsors Ulster Savings Bank, Timely Signs, Glen Kubista and Associates, Gary Noble, Century 21, Rondout Savings Bank, Armor Dynamics and Colonial Roofing.
