Parade to honor fallen American heroes followed by special service at Liberty Veteran’s Cemetery
LIBERTY, N.Y. (May 21, 2018) – The Town of Liberty will hold its Annual Memorial Day Parade and Service on Monday, May 28, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. along the Village of Liberty business district. The parade is organized by the Town of Liberty Councilmen, the Liberty Veteran’s Services Officer and the American Legion Post #109, with the support of the Village of Liberty.
The parade lineup will start on West Liberty Street at 10:00 a.m. and begin promptly at 10:30 a.m. The Memorial Day Parade will travel through the Town of Liberty business district, proceed down Church Street, and end at the Liberty Veteran’s Cemetery on Cold Spring Road. Once at the cemetery, there will be a service to honor war heroes. The service will feature keynote speaker, Hon. Michael McGuire. McGuire, who now resides in Liberty with his wife and three sons, has been a Sullivan County Court Judge and Surrogate for the past 7 years.
In addition to keynote speaker Hon. Michael McGuire, the Memorial Day services will include a Pledge to the Flag by Cub Scout Troop 717, a gun salute by the Liberty Police Department and American Legion #109, and more. Following the service, the Liberty Elks will provide light refreshments at the Elks Lodge, located at 21 John Street.
