LIBERTY, N.Y. (November 4, 2016) – The Liberty Town Board has adopted a budget for 2017 with no tax increase for residents. The budget was adopted at the board’s meeting on October 17, 2016. Despite rising costs and a reduced tax base, the board was able to hold the line on taxes thanks in part to its implementation of cost savings initiatives. The town has also been the recipient of almost 4 million dollars in grant money over the last six years.
“The Liberty Town Board is determined to keep tax increases at or near 0% to encourage growth in the town,” said Liberty Town Supervisor Charlie Barbuti. “Keeping municipal services at the level people expect and not increasing taxes is difficult; but with smart business and residential growth, it is possible.”
To achieve that growth, the town has been proactive in creating a marketing plan to attract interest from businesses and homeowners looking for all the assets Liberty has to offer. Liberty’s magnificent town parks, easy access to major highways and proximity to New York City make it an excellent choice as a place to live, work and play.
