And where’s the best place to find your dream tree? At a Christmas tree farm, of course! 37% of real-tree seekers plan to hit up these farms for their perfect holiday centerpiece. Here are some of the many places in Orange County to find the perfect tree:
Stone Oak Tree Farm, 207 Stony Bar Road, Slate Hill, N.Y.: Open on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023 and each weekend through Sunday, December 3, 2023, 10 a.m. to dusk. Weekday reservations accepted by appointment. Get into the holiday spirit with free hot chocolate and candy canes, plus enjoy a big barn where you can warm yourself by the fireplace. Airfield Farms, 64 Holmes Road, Newburgh, N.Y.: Families who put up their trees early can choose a pre-cut conifer here beginning Black Friday, Nov. 24. In 2018, the farm planted 1,000 saplings to grow into trees that families can cut themselves. Emmerich Tree Farm, 101 Sleepy Valley Road, Warwick, N.Y.: Search for your perfect Christmas tree on a farm so beautiful it is also a popular wedding venue. Choose from more than a dozen varieties of spruce, fir and pine. Check the website for an up-to-date inventory of trees. The farm also offers a wreath-making class. Pierson’s Farm, 1448 Route 211, Middletown, N.Y.: Choose a fresh-cut or a U-Cut Christmas tree, accessories, and decorations, as well as wreaths, kissing balls and more. U-Cut trees require a reservation in advance. For other warm seasonal touches, take a class in making wreaths or centerpieces. Enjoy hot cocoa and more. Pierson’s opens Nov. 24 and is open daily except Tuesdays. Wright Family Farm, 329 Kings Highway, Warwick, N.Y.: Fresh-cut trees at the farm range from tabletop size to about 12 feet tall. Choose the tree from among Fraser firs, balsam firs and more while enjoying complimentary hot chocolate and cookies. A helper on the farm will net or bale the tree and load it into or on your car for the holiday trip home.
