Mount Vernon, N.Y. (December 30, 2019) – A Stuff-the-Bus campaign spearheaded by SuperTrans in November is responsible for collecting 345 toys for less fortunate children to make sure they had presents to unwrap this holiday season.
Over the last few weeks, when students boarded SuperTrans school buses, they carried more than just their backpacks; they handed new toys to their bus drivers before heading to their seats.
“We are so thankful for the overwhelming support from our students and families,” said Nick Vallone, SuperTrans owner. “It’s the season of giving and it was a pleasure to see even our youngest riders embrace the opportunity to help other children.”
‘We are so fortunate to have such generous clients and we are thrilled to give back to our local community!’ added Denise Pisapia, SuperTrans CEO.
On Thursday, December 12, all the donations were loaded into a SuperTrans bus for transport by Vallone to their destination – the Boys and Girls Club of Mount Vernon. The following day, the toys were handed out at the organization’s annual holiday celebration, brightening the season for the 150 local children it serves.
“We serve low-income families and foster children, and a lot of times, parents can’t provide presents for their kids,” said Boys and Girls Club of Mount Vernon Director Halima Penny. “The donated toys definitely made a difference!”
