LIBERTY, N.Y. (May 23, 2019) – Start your engines! It’s that time of year when the streets in the Town of Liberty are lined with soap box racers. Sullivan County’s 8th Annual Soap Box Derby, sponsored by the Sullivan County Soap Box Derby Organization, will take place on Sunday, June 1, 2019. Racers, spectators and volunteers are encouraged to attend the event for a day filled with lots of fun and excitement.
The race begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. on North Main Street and continues throughout the day. There will be food vendors on-site as well as a booth filled with goodies courtesy of Liberty ShopRite. Those interested in volunteering to help with the race should contact Carol Vandenberg at 845-292-5770.
“The Soap Box Derby event is a great local event that continues to impact our community and youth in a positive way,” said Brian P. Rourke, Town of Liberty Supervisor. “The Sullivan County Soap Box Derby organization does a great job putting this event together. Whether it be the kids racing in the derby or our many local volunteers, it’s an occasion that all enjoy and we are thrilled to be a part of it.”
