STOUTRIDGE VINEYARD NAMED FOUNDING MEMBER OF HUDSON VALLEY FOOD & BEVERAGE ALLIANCE

Premium estate winery joins newly formed regional organization

NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. (June 20, 2012) – Stoutridge Vineyard, a premium estate winery in Marlboro, has joined the Hudson Valley Food & Beverage Alliance as a founding member.

Located a half mile from the Hudson River and 70 miles north of Manhattan, Stoutridge Vineyard specializes in natural and nearly unprocessed wines. As a gravity winery, the vineyard does not use pumps or filters in its winemaking and uses minimal chemical processing with its wines. In addition, Stoutridge Vineyard uses locally grown fruit and grain in many of its wine and spirits.

“We are very excited about joining the Hudson Valley Food & Beverage Alliance and contributing to the mission of this outstanding organization in our region,” said Kimberly Wagner, owner of Stoutridge Vineyard. “An entrepreneurial venture like ours benefits from collaboration with other regional businesses. We are all in this together, and joining the Alliance makes it easier for us to connect and cooperate with other organizations that share our goals.”

The Food & Beverage Alliance focuses on helping food and beverage companies in the area work together as strong partners and market their products all over the United States. Launched by Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. (HVEDC), the organization includes food businesses, farmers, vegetable growers, beverage makers, distributors and other organizations in the industry.

Built on the historical foundations of vineyards planted in the late 1700s, Stoutridge Vineyard first opened its winery in 2006 and its distillery will be opening soon. It produces a variety of red, rosé and white wines. Owners Stephen Osborn and Kimberly Wagner encourage visitors to explore the winery, distillery and grounds, which include more than 120 native species of trees, as well as wildlife, ponds and picnic areas.

“We are pleased to announce that Stoutridge Vineyard will be joining the Food & Beverage Alliance as our newest founding member,” said Mike Oates, President and CEO of the HVEDC. “Stoutridge creates its products responsibly, sells its wine locally and features sustainably managed vineyards. This will be a member organization that embodies the positive business ethic that the Alliance so values across our region.”

According to Osborn, Stoutridge Vineyard’s experience with offering the best in customer service will also add to the Alliance’s mission.

“I’m enjoying the direct interaction with consumers that a winery focused on agritourism creates,” he said. “I believe that through cooperative activities, we can increase the number of tourists to the Hudson Valley.”
