Stay Warm at Orange County’s Indoor Attractions

Winter is the perfect season to visit museums and more in the Hudson Valley.

ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. (February 15, 2017) – Bad weather doesn’t have to mean a day at home on the couch. In fact, it’s the perfect time of year to take in all of the great indoor attractions Orange County has to offer!

Orange County Tourism Director Susan Hawvermale commented, “Our museums are constantly reinventing themselves, so catch up on what’s new. Their fascinating exhibits are a great way to spend a winter afternoon.”

Some great ways to stay warm indoors in Orange County include:

George Washington’s Birthday Celebration, February 18, 19 and 20 from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Washington’s Headquarters:  Join our George Washington reenactor as he cuts into his birthday cake, starting the festivities that will take place each day. There will be music, military demonstrations, crafts, topical talks, and historical presentations, offering something for every family member. Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame: Drive a sulky, the two-wheeled, single-seat cart used in harness racing, to the finish line in the 3-D simulator. Riveting state-of-the-art and interactive exhibits. Call and judge a race. Theaters tell the fascinating history of America’s first sport. National Purple Heart Hall of Honor: Dedicated to the stories of Purple Heart recipients. Film, interviews, exhibits, and the Roll of Honor, an electronic database of recipients from the Civil War through Afghanistan. 374 Temple Hill Road, New Windsor, N.Y. www.thepurpleheart.com
