ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. (May 26, 2020) – While the temperatures may have been mild, this past winter sure felt like a long one. With warmer weather here and summer on the horizon, Orange County, N.Y.’s pristine lakes and magnificent rivers offer fun in the sun for individuals of all ages. Jet around on a boat or float along on a raft to take advantage of the natural waterways right here in the Hudson Valley.

“The past few months have been challenging for all of us. And, while we continue to take the necessary precautions to keep our communities safe, we encourage residents to explore the opportunities available to them for outdoor recreation while helping to support local businesses,” said Orange County Tourism Director Amanda Dana. “Our state and local parks remain open to the public and our many lakes and rivers continue to serve as homes to recreational water activities.”

Greenwood Lake

Some opportunities for outdoor summer fun Orange County, N.Y. are listed below. Before taking to the water, please contact the venue directly to confirm that they are open.

Jersey Paddle Boards, 622 Jersey Avenue, Greenwood Lake: Explore the 9-mile, 1,918-acre Greenwood Lake which borders both New York and New Jersey via stand up paddle board (SUP) or kayak. Winding Hills Park, 1847 Route 17K, Montgomery: Commune with nature at the picturesque Winding Hills Park which offers a 40-acre lake for boating as well as four-acre pond for fishing. Pride of the Hudson, 90 Front Street, Newburgh: Cruise through the majestic Hudson Highlands above the luxurious Pride of the Hudson. Located right on the historic section of Newburgh, guests looking to bask in the open air on one of the boat’s many narrated sightseeing expeditions can begin making reservations for cruises beginning June 25, pending New York State’s phased reopening schedule.

Storm King Adventure Tours, 4 Duncan Avenue, Cornwall-on-Hudson: Kayak the Hudson River and discover the picturesque upstate village surrounded by state parks and nature reserves.
