South Fallsburg, N.Y. (July 19, 2012) – Rolling V Bus Corp. and Gershowitz Transportation, both Sullivan County-based bus transportation companies, are proud to announce that they are once again sponsoring drivers to participate in state and international school bus road-eo events.
On Saturday, July 14, Rolling V/Gershowitz will send participants to the New York Association for Pupil Transportation (NYAPT) Road-eo Day in Saratoga, N.Y. and the National School Transportation Association (NSTA) School Bus Driver International Safety Competition on Sunday, July 15 in Milwaukee, Wis.
“Rolling V and Gershowitz are all about safety and efficiency,” said Phil Vallone, president at Rolling V and Gershowitz. “These road-eos are an opportunity for our employees to apply our strict training regimen in a fun manner. I would like to personally thank everyone who is going out and representing Rolling V/Gershowitz and wish them the best of luck!”
Driver John Bankich won his way into the International road-eo by taking 1st place in the van division last summer at the NYAPT road-eo competition. Driver George Lewis won his way into the NYAPT road-eo by taking 2nd place in the Tri-County Association for Pupil Transportation (TCAPT) Conventional Competition this past spring.
Drivers Barry Beatty and Christina Mitchell will compete in the NYAPT Special Needs Road-eo as a team. The pair will battle other teams to see who can handle the special needs school bus route with the most ease. This competition is designed to expose the teams to a driving course, special needs evacuations, wheel chair loading and securement.
Mechanics Rob Darbee and Lauren Stoutenburg will compete in the NYAPT Tech Mech Road-eo. The two will compete against each other, as well as other mechanics in the business. The Tech Mech Road-eo is designed to test the skills and knowledge of the school bus mechanic in areas of diagnostics, parts recognition and repairs.
Rolling V and Gershowitz are proud members of the New York School Bus Contractors Association and the American School Bus Council. The companies are family-owned and operated by the Vallone and DeSabato families. The Vallone Family has been in the passenger transportation business for more than 50 years.
