South Fallsburg, N.Y. (May 22, 2013) – Rolling V Bus Corp., a Sullivan County-based bus transportation company, is sponsoring cars in the upcoming 2nd Annual Sullivan County Soap Box Derby this Memorial Day weekend. Winners have a chance to go to nationals this summer.
“The kids and everyone who helped build the soap box cars last year had a great time and we’re excited to race again this year,” said Ken Engle, Head of Safety & Training at Rolling V. “This is going to be a great opportunity for the children to learn something new and have some fun!”
In 2012, Rolling V sponsored its own cars, in addition to providing cars to each of the districts they serve in – Fallsburg, Liberty, Livingston Manor, Roscoe and Tri-Valley – of which each chose its own participants and will do so again this year. A lottery among Rolling V employees yielded the two Rolling V participants: Nya Reebe, a student in the Liberty Central School District was chosen to drive the Rolling V Bus Corp. car and Brianne MacPherson from the Fallsburg Central School District will drive one under the Big V Tours name.
The winner of the Sullivan County race will move on for a chance to compete at the 76th Annual All-American Soap Box Derby competition series on Saturday, July 27 at Derby Downs in Akron, Ohio.
Phil Vallone, president at Rolling V, added, “Safety is, and always has been, our No.1 priority, and in building these cars last year and working with a new team of racers this year, we’ve been able to teach them first-hand the importance of proper maintenance and infuse in them leadership and responsibility.”
Rolling V Bus Corp. is a proud member of the New York School Bus Contractors Association and the American School Bus Council. The company is family-owned and operated by the Vallone and DeSabato families. The Vallone Family has been in the passenger transportation business for more than 50 years.
