Rolling V Bus Corp. Raising the Bar on School Bus Safety

RollingVFallsburg, N.Y. (October 4, 2013) – Rolling V Bus Corp. is consistently raising the bar on school bus safety with nearly perfect state inspections and top-notch management training.

“Rolling V has always been at the top of its safety game, but we’re always looking for ways to improve,” said President Phil Vallone. “Our statistics speak for themselves.”

Rolling V scored 99.8 percent in its most recent New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) biannual inspection – one of the top scores in the state. From January 2010 thru December 2012, Rolling V has averaged a 96.5 percent, also an impressive statistic.

Inspectors follow strict criteria to determine integrity of each vehicle. Rolling V subjects its vehicles to preventative maintenance check-ups every six weeks and issues found are immediately remedied. So every time a Rolling V school bus is on the road, children across the region are being transported the safest way possible.

Ken Engle, Safety Director at Rolling V, said, “Our great results are contributed to a rigorous preventive maintenance program built and improved upon over the years and the dedication of its maintenance staff to ensure the safety of our vehicles.

In addition to a comprehensive preventative maintenance program, Rolling V also keeps its management on top of the latest training techniques and programs. Recently, its safety managers attended Bus Accident Investigation Training For Identifying Safety Hazards (BAITFISH) training.

Provided by NYSDOT, the 4-day course is part of the state’s System Safety Program Plan that educates transit operators on how to respond to and prevent accidents, investigate accidents and identify common factors and causes for future prevention.

Linda Kleingardner, Operations Manager at Rolling V, said, “Our goal is to make our drivers the safest on the road. This is just one more tool that Rolling V can use to continue to improve our company safety standards.”

Vallone added, “The Rolling V maintenance staff and drivers are the glue to advancing overall school bus safety. Together as a team, we have been able to achieve our goals. Safety has always been our biggest priority and our stats prove it.”

Rolling V is a proud member New York School Bus Contractors Association and the American School Bus Council. The company is family-owned and operated by the Vallone and DeSabato families. The Vallone family has been in the passenger transportation business for more than 50 years.
