Transportation company encourages employees to make healthy choices by providing education and resources
South Fallsburg, N.Y. (September 1, 2017) – Rolling V Bus Corp., a Catskill Region-based school bus transportation company, has implemented a wellness initiative to enhance the overall health and well-being of its employees. Beginning in September, Rolling V employees will have access to health education and resources to encourage healthy lifestyle choices at its terminal locations in Sullivan, Delaware and Ulster counties.
“At Rolling V, we understand the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices,” said Phil Vallone, Rolling V President. “We want to do our part to improve the health of our community by educating our employees on the value of living an active, healthy life and by providing the resources that will help them to succeed in creating and sustaining healthy habits.”
To kick-off the initiative, each month Rolling V employees will focus on a selected health objective, with Rolling V to provide guidance and support. Employees will be supplied with informative wellness literature on a variety of topics, including:
• September: Nutrition
To foster a healthy work environment, Rolling V will remove unhealthy choices from vending machines and break rooms, and replace them with healthier options, such as fruits, vegetables and juices.
• October: Health Benefits of Quitting Smoking
Nicotine/tobacco users will have the option to participate in an educational session about the health benefits of quitting smoking. Participants will be introduced to nicotine alternatives to aid in the quitting process. Smoking areas will be restricted to beyond 100 feet from all Rolling V buildings.
• November: Physical Fitness
Rolling V will host a variety of exercise classes at its facilities to promote the importance of physical fitness and to create a culture of teamwork between employees.
• December: Mental and Social Health
An activity calendar will be established to include company outings, which will be chosen based on employee interests. Activities may include bowling, hiking, a walking club, movie nights and more.
