RESORTS WORLD CATSKILLS TO OPEN THREE REGIONAL CASINO DEALER SCHOOLS

Information sessions will be held in Sullivan, Ulster and Orange counties to provide details and opportunities to register for classes

MONTICELLO, N.Y., (August 2, 2017) – Resorts World Catskills will operate three casino dealer schools, one in each of Sullivan, Orange and Ulster counties, in the coming weeks. The dealer schools will be used to train people to enable them to apply for table games dealer positions at Resorts World Catskills. The schools will be located in Monticello, Stewart Airport/New Windsor and Ellenville. All table game classes will be free of charge.

In advance of the dealer school openings, Resorts World Catskills will hold information sessions in these three Hudson Valley counties to provide details about the casino dealer schools and for the manner in which interested individuals may register for classes. Resorts World Catskills expects to hire approximately 600 dealers prior to opening its doors to the public in March 2018.

“I’m pleased to note that we have great workforce development support from Sullivan County Legislative Chairman Luis Alvarez, and Orange and Ulster County Executives Steve Neuhaus and Mike Hein as we begin the process of providing information regarding job opportunities at our resort casino,” said Charles Degliomini, Executive Vice President of Empire Resorts, Inc., parent of the owner and operator of Resorts World Catskills. “Creating good paying jobs was the initial objective of the Upstate NY Gaming Economic Development Act, and after years of waiting we are close to realizing this important goal.”

The information sessions, which are free and open to the public, will be held at the following locations and times.

Sullivan County – Rock Hill
When: 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 7
Where: Ramada at the Sullivan Event Center, 283 Rock Hill Drive

Orange County – Goshen
When: 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 14
Where: Orange County Emergency Services Center, 22 Wells Farm Road

Ulster County – Ellenville
When: 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 6
Where: Ellenville High School Auditorium, 28 Maple Ave.

People who register for dealer school will be provided with 20 hours of training per week for a minimum of six weeks for core games such as blackjack, poker, baccarat and roulette. Additional training will be required for more complex games.

Once training is successfully completed, students can apply, and will have to interview and audition, for table game dealer positions.

“Resorts World Catskills is fulfilling its promise to the people of Sullivan County to provide jobs and boost the local economy,” said Luis Alvarez, chairman of the Sullivan County Legislature. “I encourage everyone to sign up and take advantage of the opportunities created by the casino project.”

“The County is pleased to work with Resorts World Catskills to help Orange County residents benefit from good paying jobs available at the casino resort,” said Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus. “Resorts World Catskills is a playing an important role in the economic development of the region.”

Ulster County Executive Mike Hein welcomed the news that a dealer school would open in the county. “The construction of this casino is critically important to the economic development of the Hudson Valley,” said Ulster County Executive Mike Hein. “The invisible boundaries between counties should not stand in the way of helping our residents and communities prosper. I urge interested residents to attend the information sessions and take advantage of this opportunity.”

Anyone interested in becoming a table game dealer should attend the information session. Prior casino experience is not required. At the information sessions, Resorts World Catskills executives will be available to answer questions and provide detailed information about requirements and the process of becoming a dealer. Enrollment forms will be available on site for interested individuals to complete in order to be accepted and scheduled for dealer school training.
