ELANT STAFF VOLUNTEERS FOR NATIONAL REBUILDING DAY
Goshen, N.Y.(May 9, 2011) – For the eighth consecutive year Elant’s dedicated employees rolled up their sleeves and volunteered for Rebuilding Together Dutchess as part of National Rebuilding Day on Saturday, April 30, 2011.
25 employees from Elant’s Fishkill and Wappinger’s Falls locations partnered with staff from Ulster Savings Bank to provide free home repairs and modifications for a family in Pleasant Valley who could not afford needed renovations due to health and medical costs.
Members of Elant at Fishkill’s resident council also donated $500 which went toward the cost of supplies. A weekend at Hunter Mountain was also donated by Peter Kennelty, a certified occupational therapy assistant employed by Elant at Fishkill, for a raffle to raise additional money.
The team completed a variety of home repairs which dramatically improved the couple’s living conditions. These included fixing a leaky roof, replacing windows and doors, installing a staircase, repairing a walkway, painting and some landscaping improvements.
“Thanks to the renovations we were able to complete, these homeowners will be safe and warm and able to live in their home for many years to come,” explained Donna Frazier, Corporate Rehabilitation Director and team leader for Elant.
Darlene, the homeowner, expressed her gratitude by saying, “My husband and I are very humbled, and they did a fantastic job”.
Rebuilding Together is the nation’s largest nonprofit organization working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize neighborhoods by providing critical home repair, disabled modifications and energy efficient upgrades to those in need, at no cost to homeowners. In Dutchess County a total of 14 projects will be undertaken this spring.
