PROTECTING YOUR LIFE SAVINGS

Walden, N.Y. (January 9, 2013) – The Alzheimer’s Association will present an Elder Law Presentation on Wednesday, January 23rd at The Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center, Inc. This presentation is designed to help seniors and their caregivers plan for possible long-term care costs.

Jacobowitz & Gubits Senior Counsel, Sanford R. Altman, an elder law attorney and member of the firm’s Business, Trust & Estates Team will discuss the differences between Medicare and Medicaid, offer suggestions on  protecting your assets when faced with possible long-term health care costs and how proper planning can help retain your assets for you and your family. Information on how caregivers can receive payment for the services they provide will also be presented.

Mr. Altman explained, “Advanced planning is best, but it is also essential if your loved one is already in a nursing home or about to enter one. This presentation is designed to provide seniors and caregivers important information on how to best protect their financial assets.”

Mr. Altman is a graduate of New York Law School, former Brooklyn Assistant District Attorney and a member of the AARP Legal Services Network since its inception. He has practiced in Orange County since 1983 and now focuses on areas of Elder Law, Estate Planning, Business Law and Probate and Estate Administration. He is also Chairman of the Town of Montgomery Seniors Independence Project, a member of the Adult Protective Services Task Force, a member of the New York State Bar Association’s Elder Law and Trust and Estates Sections, the Orange County Bar Association and is past President of the Middletown Bar Association.

The presentation will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Greater Hudson Valley Family Healthcare Center, The Kaplan Family Pavilion, 147 Lake St., Newburgh, N.Y.  For more information, or to register please call The Alzheimer’s Association at 800-272-3900.
