PRACTICAL GUIDE TO ZONING AND LAND USE LAW

Walden, N.Y. (February 19, 2013) – George Lithco, partner at Jacobowitz & Gubits, will co-present a National Business Institute seminar entitled “Practical Guide to Zoning and Land Use Law,” from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 4, at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel, 40 Civic Center, Poughkeepsie. The seminar will help professionals work effectively with zoning and land use regulations and anticipate changing trends.

Mr. Lithco, along with Michael H. Donnelly of law firm Dickover, Donnelly, Donovan & Biagi, will discuss key components of the land use process, including procedures for challenging a zoning decision, efforts to streamline environmental review procedures, and new case law, among other topics.  Participants will develop a comprehensive  understanding of how land use regulations work and how the process can affect property development. The seminar provides accredited continuing education for attorneys, engineers and architects, and will be useful for appraisers, city and urban planners, surveyors, developers, and land zoning and land use officials.

“It’s a chance to help the participants in the land use process understand the nut and bolts of the zoning process, and to go over new ground that changes in the law may bring, so the process works efficiently and effectively for everyone involved.  Everyone in New York State has a stake in making the system work, so we have environmental protection and economic development.” Mr. Lithco explained. “It’s a great opportunity to share my expertise in this area with others.”

Mr. Lithco has been with Jacobowitz & Gubits since 1989 and is a member of the Environmental/Land Use and Municipal Teams. He has a broad range of experience representing private clients before municipal planning and zoning boards as well as state and county regulatory agencies, and he has served as counsel to municipal planning and zoning boards of appeal in communities represented by the firm.

For more information or to register for the seminar, “Practical Guide to Zoning and Land Use Law,” please call the National Business Institute at 800-930-6182 or click here to register online.   Participants are eligible to receive continuing education credits.
