Orange Regional Medical Center among the top 5 percent of U.S. hospitals for clinical outcomes
Middletown, NY – Orange Regional Medical Center announced that it has achieved the Healthgrades 2019 America’s 250 Best Hospitals Award™. The distinction places Orange Regional Medical Center in the top 5 percent of more than 4,500 hospitals assessed nationwide for its superior clinical performance as measured by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.
“This distinction speaks volumes to our organization’s commitment to quality and the contributions of all physicians and hospital staff members who make this designation possible,” said Orange Regional Medical Center President & CEO Scott Batulis.
Orange Regional Medical Center is one of seven hospitals in New York to be a 2019 recipient of the America’s 250 Best Hospitals Award and is the only hospital in Orange County to be recognized with this award.
From 2015 through 2017, patients treated in hospitals receiving the Healthgrades America’s 250 Best Hospitals Award had, on average, a 27.1 percent lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award, as measured across 19 rated conditions and procedures for which mortality is the outcome.
“The Healthgrades America’s 250 Best Hospital Award is a tool that consumers can use to identify the best hospitals for their care needs,” said Chief Medical Officer at Healthgrades, Brad Bowman. “We commend recipient hospitals for showing their dedication to patients by delivering exceptional clinical outcomes.”
“Hospitals recognized by Healthgrades have proven their dedication to quality care and exceptional outcomes,” said Chief Clinical Officer Rosemary Baczewski. “This recognition distinguishes Orange Regional Medical Center.”
In 2019, Orange Regional Medical Center was also recognized as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention, and One of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for General Surgery. Orange Regional Medical Center was also recognized in 2019 with the Coronary Intervention Excellence Award, the General Surgery Excellence Award and the Bariatric Surgery Excellence Award.
Recipients of the Healthgrades America’s 250 Best Hospitals Award are recognized for overall clinical excellence across a broad spectrum of care. During the 2019 study period (2015 through 2017), these hospitals showed superior performance in clinical outcomes for Medicare patients across at least 21 of 32 most common inpatient conditions and procedures — as measured by objective performance data (risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital complications).
