Middletown, NY – Orange Regional Medical Center will celebrate Certified Nurses Day on March 19 by honoring its board certified nurses. More than 450 nurses will be recognized for their professionalism, leadership and commitment to excellence in patient care.
“I commend our certified nurses for their commitment to their professional development and for providing exceptional patient care,” said Chief Nursing Officer, Lisa Oldham.
Board certification of nurses plays an increasingly important role as it assures high standards of care for patients and their loved ones. While a registered nurse license provides entry to general nursing practice, the knowledge-intensive requirements of board certification necessitates extensive education, as well as a strong personal commitment to excellence by the nurse.
As a Magnet designated hospital, Orange Regional encourages national board certification for all its nurses and patients are encouraged to inquire whether there are certified nurses on staff when they visit the hospital or their primary care provider.
Magnet status is an award given by the American Nurses‘ Credentialing Center (ANCC), an affiliate of the American Nurses Association, to hospitals that satisfy a set of criteria designed to measure the strength and quality of their nursing.
Board certification recognizes the nurses who have met the educational preparation required for the role, the specialty practice requirement and who have passed the board certification exam.
There are many nursing certification specialties such as medical-surgical, pediatric, pain management, cardiac vascular, oncology, hospice, case management, emergency nursing, critical care and many others.
