Orange County, N.Y., Farmers’ Markets Beckon With Region’s Bounty of Produce, Meats, Baked Goods and More

ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. (May 22, 2024) – As spring comes into full bloom, more than a dozen Orange County, N.Y., farmers’ markets emerge to offer the region’s tasty, magnificent bounty of fruits and vegetables and delectable specialty foods.

Seekers of farm-fresh delights will find markets in communities from Newburgh to Port Jervis and Pine Bush to Greenwood Lake, some already welcoming customers and others opening throughout June. Their booths and tables offer gorgeous, healthful produce bursting with flavor, along with farm-fresh eggs and mouthwatering meats, breads and other treats.

“Come to Orange County, N.Y., for vegetables and fruits with flavor you have to taste to believe,” said Amanda Dana, Director of Orange County Tourism & Film, “Our farmers’ markets are jam-packed with irresistible fresh-baked goods and fresh-picked produce that is full of flavor and perfect for healthy lifestyles. Try a few of the markets to find your favorites, and meet the caring people who grow and prepare the foods with pride and love. The markets are worth a drive on their own, or a fun stop during a day or weekend of family fun in Orange County.”

Here are some of the farmers’ markets you’ll find:

Goshen Farmers’ Market, Orange County Government Center Green, 255 Main St., Goshen, N.Y.: Run by the Goshen Chamber of Commerce, the market provides an opportunity for local food producers and artisans to offer their products directly to consumers in a clean, friendly and community-oriented environment.

Fridays, May 17 through Nov. 22 plus Wednesday, Nov. 27, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

 Pine Bush Farmers’ Market, 62 Main St., Pine Bush, N.Y.: The 22nd season of foods from local farms and live music by local musicians will deliver old favorites, new faces, and the fresh homegrown, home-baked and handmade products that visitors and shoppers love. The market offers fresh produce, meats, eggs, breads, honey, sweet and savory specialties and much more.

Middletown BID Farmers’ Market, Erie Way Park Pavilion, 1-31 Union St., Middletown, N.Y.: The weekly market, in the heart of historic Middletown, is sponsored by the Business Improvement District, whose mission is to improve the downtown business climate in partnership with the City of Middletown.

Port Jervis Farmers’ Market, Farmers’ Market Square, Hammond and Pike streets, Port Jervis, N.Y.: The Port Jervis Farmers’ Market is a community organization aimed at making fresh, nutritious food available to the community, supporting local farmers and businesses and encouraging people to eat locally grown and prepared foods. The market supports farmers and makers from Orange, Sullivan, Pike, Dutchess and Sussex Counties. Live music and family fun are included.

Newburgh/Healthy Orange Farmers’ Market, Safe Harbors Green, 130 Broadway, Newburgh, N.Y.: The encourages healthy eating for all. Patrons can take advantage of benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Double Up Food Bucks, senior and veteran coupons and FreshConnect. Nutrition programs and screening events also are offered. Cornell Cooperative Extension sets up a Master Gardeners’ tables every other week.
