Peter Gregory promoted to Managing Director

New Windsor, N.Y. – April 2, 2012 – The Orange County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) announced the appointment of Peter Gregory as Managing Director of the Orange County Business Accelerator.

Gregory has served as the Accelerator’s Business Development Director since the organization’s inception in 2009. He has overseen enterprise development and client services, and has conceived the ever-growing event programs at the Accelerator – Pop-Up Knowledge Series and Entrepreneur Knowledge Series.

“Peter has proven to be a terrific asset to the Accelerator, given his extensive venture capital and business development experience,” said James R. Petro, Jr., Chairman of the IDA. “The Accelerator is an extraordinary success story and we are confident that Peter will help bring the organization to a newer level of success.”

James O’Donnell, Executive Director at the Orange County IDA, added, “Peter was critical in filling out the Accelerator with a stable of promising upcoming companies. His leadership and vision will be crucial to the future success of the Accelerator and we are pleased that he has accepted this new challenge.”

A venture business expert, Gregory has provided his expertise as a seasoned business leader to CEO’s, presidents, and business owners across the nation for more than 25 years. He has extensively coached CEO’s in the art of raising capital, having engaged dozens of client companies from Boston to Miami over the last nine years, advising and implementing methods of improving capital and marketing position.

Before joining the Accelerator team, Gregory helped guide high-growth businesses in the New York State solar economic ecosystem, engaged as a third-party resource by The Solar Energy Consortium. He also founded BrightGarden Strategies, a business plan and marketing strategy firm.

Gregory earned his M.B.A. with concentrations in Finance & Entrepreneurship at William E. Simon Graduate School of Business, University of Rochester. He also holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology.

OCBA, located at 4 Crotty Lane in New Windsor, N.Y. at New York International Plaza at Stewart Airport, is a business incubator program launched by the Orange County Industrial Development Agency (IDA). The incubator, 12,600 square feet of Class A high-tech research and development space, is designed to attract new entrepreneurial investment by providing businesses with below market occupancy costs, a menu of mentoring programs and a high-tech plug-and-play office environment.
