Orange County Chamber of Commerce to Honor Region’s Best at Annual Gala

Business leaders Alan Seidman, Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region, Beer World Get Spotlight at Gala in March

MAYBROOK, N.Y. (JANUARY 13, 2022) – The Orange County Chamber of Commerce will recognize Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region, and Beer World with the Chamber Choice “Best Place to Work” award at its Snow Ball Springs Ahead Gala at City Winery March 26.

This is the first year the Chamber will salute local organizations with the award. Submissions were judged in three categories: corporate, non-profit and small business. Nominees were evaluated independently by Staffing Professional Members Here’s Help, Vision’s HR, and Ethan Allen Staffing.

“Who better to judge the best place to work than our human-resources professionals,” said Heather Bell-Meyer, who just completed her first year as President & CEO of the Orange County Chamber of Commerce. “We are just ecstatic about this year’s gala. There are so many accomplishments to celebrate, and it’s fitting to include our new ‘Best Place to Work’ award. Orange County is home to many quality employers, many of whom are members of our chamber, and we are proud to recognize some of them as such. We are especially excited about these awards because they were based on narrative of the nomination, not number of votes. During these unprecedented times, that is impactful!”

Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital is the winner of the “Best Place to Work” award in the corporate category. The hospital, with main campuses in both Cornwall and Newburgh, cares for more than 270,000 patients each year. With 1,500 employees, Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall is one of the largest employers in Orange County.

“Our dedicated team works tirelessly to improve the lives and wellbeing of our community. The resiliency of this team since the start of the pandemic is not only commendable but inspiring,” said Daniel J. Maughan, MSLC President and CEO. “We humbly accept this award on their behalf, and thank the Chamber for this honor and its recognition of MSLC’s commitment to our employees.”

United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region will be presented with the “Best Place to Work” award in the non-profit category. United Way supports individuals in need as well as caring organizations and businesses wanting to make a difference.

“We are thrilled to be recognized as one of the best places to work in our region,” said Jeannie Montano, President & CEO of United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region. “Our staff is deeply committed to our cause and make it possible for us to help support the health, education, and financial stability of every person in our community.”

The “Best Place to Work” winner in the small business category is Beer World, New York’s largest independent retailer of beer. Beer World has 13 locations throughout New York and has been recognized for its support of Orange County’s craft beer industry.

“We know there are so many great small businesses here in Orange County, so this is really special to us,” said Sonny Patel, President of Beer World. “We love what we do, and it’s so important to us to provide a happy, healthy work environment for our employees.”

The Chamber will also recognize Alan Seidman, Executive Director of the Construction Contractors Association of the Hudson Valley, as the 2022 Champion of the Chamber. Seidman was instrumental in merging two Orange County chambers 25 years ago and remains a dedicated supporter.

“It’s such an honor to be selected as this year’s Champion of the Chamber,” Seidman said. “I have a long history with the Chamber, and helping nurture economic growth here in Orange County is a cause that’s very close to my heart.”

The 2021 winners for Business of the Year, Non-Profit of the Year, and Champion of the Chamber also will be recognized. The 2021 honorees are SERVPRO of Orange, Sullivan and Southern Ulster as Business of the Year, Garnet Health as Non-Profit of the Year and Focus Media President & CEO Josh Sommers as the inaugural Champion of the Chamber winner.
