MVCSD to Honor its Most Outstanding Teachers

Distinguished Teacher Award Ceremony planned for Saturday, April 14

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (April 9, 2018) — The Mount Vernon City School District is recognizing its best and brightest educators. The Distinguished Teacher Award Ceremony is planned for Saturday, April 14 at Mount Vernon High School and will commence with a reception at 5:30 p.m.

50 teachers from various grade levels and buildings district-wide have been nominated for distinguished teachers awards. The distinguished teacher of the year will be announced at the awards ceremony that will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

“Among the goals of the District’s 20/20 Vision is instructional excellence, and these educators have risen to the challenge,” said Dr. Kenneth R. Hamilton, Superintendent of Schools. “It’s only fitting that we recognize the hard work these extraordinary teachers put in each and every day with our students as we designate this school year as the year of the teacher.”

Special guest presenters and entertainers will be present at the event co-sponsored by several district partners. Anyone wishing to attend should RSVP to Donna Jackson at djackson1@mtvernoncsd.org.
