MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (March 1, 2017) — The Mount Vernon City School District (MVCSD) has engaged with Brown & Brown of NY, Inc. to provide risk management consulting and help reduce work-related injuries within the district. Through the engagement, Brown & Brown’s Jarvis Grantham will officially become MVCSD’s new risk manager.
Grantham will be responsible for reducing workplace accidents through planning and increased trainings for staff members. In December, he began developing best practices for the district’s safety committee and has been assisting staff with the implementation of updated policies and procedures throughout the organization.
“We are very pleased to welcome Mr. Grantham to our school district and look forward to his insights as we aim to reduce accidents and injuries and improve the safety of our district overall,” said Dr. Kenneth R. Hamilton, superintendent. “Bringing in a risk manager is an important investment for the district, one that will reduce costs through a lower number of workers’ compensation claims in the future. In this way, we are ensuring our schools and facilities remain safe and secure for our students, teachers and staff members.”
Grantham is an experienced risk manager who has a background in customer service and public relations. In his short time with the district to date, he has thoroughly analyzed the review and development of best practices for the district’s workers’ compensation and return-to-work program. Grantham is also a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
