Mount Peter Race Club Awarded Grant by Killington World Cup Foundation

Funds to help secure all-new timing equipment for popular racing program

WARWICK, N.Y. (August 15, 2019) – The Race Club at Mount Peter has been awarded a $6,000 grant from the Killington World Cup Foundation (KWCF), a non-profit organization committed to supporting winter sports infrastructure and providing increased youth access to winter sports throughout the Northeast. Mount Peter – New York’s family mountain and one of the Mid-Hudson’s most popular recreational tourist destinations – is home to Mount Peter Racing and hosts New Jersey Ski Racing Association events throughout the ski season.

“We submitted our application with the intent of securing funds to help with the acquisition of all-new timing equipment,” said Hillary Hansen, President of the Mount Peter Race Club. “This grant helps us ensure that we’ll be providing the latest technology available for our races. We’re currently busy ordering and receiving the new equipment in time for the upcoming season.”

Mount Peter’s competitive and training programs include: Racing, for athletes who want expert coaching and training, and to compete in U.S. Ski & Snowboard sanctioned events; Development, for up and coming ski racing athletes ages 7-11 who want to participate in races within the Youth Ski League; Dynamites, geared toward intermediate skiers ages 6-10; and High School Crossover, designed for High School racers who want to further their training and enhance their racing.

“Thanks to generous matching contributions from both Mount Peter and the Mount Peter Race Club, we’ve been able to spend a total of $18,000 on these upgrades,” said Hansen. “We extend our deepest gratitude to the mountain’s executive team for their financial support, and for the many things they do in support of the club and racing programs season after season.”

The KWCF supports programs like those offered by Mount Peter through grants and other programs. The organization works with ski areas throughout the Northeast to enhance infrastructure and improve the competitiveness of athletes by enabling them access to superior facilities, programs and competitions. Their efforts continue to increase access to winter sports competition for youth and disabled individuals. In line with the culture and history of Mount Peter, the KWCF works to create life-long winter sports participants.

Mount Peter boasts 14 expertly groomed trails for skiers and snowboarders at all skill levels, as well as its popular 600-foot tubing run. The mountain is well-known for its Free Beginner Lessons program, offered through its renowned Mountain School. Mount Peter is located at 51 Old Mount Peter Road in Warwick, New York.
