WARWICK, N.Y. (December 7, 2020) – Mount Peter, New York’s family ski resort, will soon be welcoming guests back to the mountain to celebrate its 85th winter season. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mount Peter has taken a number of precautionary steps to ensure the safety of its guests and staff this season, including the installation of ultraviolet (UV) lights across the property.
The UV lights used at Mount Peter are Sterile-Bright, a product of Ultra-Tech Lighting, which uses a multi-tiered approach to surface and air sterilization using a combination of powerful UV light that directly eliminates and sterilizes surfaces and spaces from pathogens. It is environmentally friendly and safe for all ages.
“We are excited to open our doors for the winter season, and we understand that the COVID-19 pandemic calls for fast and proven solutions to maintain the health and safety of our guests. After an extensive study of the various ways we could keep people safe, we found that the use of UV lights was the best choice at Mount Peter. Other approaches, using chemical solutions, leave residue on surfaces and do not necessarily evaporate to their fullest extent,” said Amy Sampson-Cutler, Executive Manager of Mount Peter. “The UV light provides the most comprehensive and effective non-chemical approach that addresses bacteria, viruses, fungi and spores and the use of UV light is well-known and universally accepted.”
UV lights have been installed in Mount Peter’s main lodge as well as its sunrise lodge and has set up tents equipped with UV lights at the tubing hill and rental location to disinfect all equipment prior to the next guest. This technique only takes a few seconds, which keeps customers safe — and happy — and the lines moving quickly.
UV light can destroy all pathogens quickly, both airborne and on surfaces. Once a space is treated, the pathogen-free environment can be sustained as long as proper procedures are followed. Mount Peter will follow a consistent schedule to sanitize each area before, during and after hours of operation, and guests will be able to see the lights, giving them peace of mind during their visit.
The facility also has a portable hand-held unit controlled via Bluetooth technology that can sterilize areas such as chair lifts, bathrooms, food services areas, and locker rooms in as few as five minutes and leaves no chemical residue behind.
Mount Peter’s popular FREE beginner lesson program on weekends and holidays is a perfect way to get started on a new and active hobby. Mount Peter also offers personal and family lessons, including mid-week learn to ski and snowboard packages.
