New slope and carpet lift provide bridge from beginner to bigger slopes
WARWICK, N.Y. (December 9, 2018) – Mount Peter, New York’s family mountain, is excited to introduce an all-new learning area and carpet lift. The new instructional slope for skiers and snowboarders – called Valley View – is a great complement to Mount Peter’s already popular Basin Learning Area, and provides a stepping stone for beginners who may not be quite ready to take to the main slopes.
“Beginner skiers and riders love our Basin Learning Area, and we saw an opportunity to give them a learning hill with a little more challenge,” said Amy Sampson-Cutler, Executive Manager of Mount Peter. “Valley View is perfect for beginners who have learned the basics and are ready for some slightly more challenging terrain, but aren’t quite ready for the lifts yet.”
Mount Peter is famously supportive of beginning skiers and snowboarders. Its Free Beginner Ski & Snowboard Lessons – available on all weekends and holidays – are available with the purchase of a lift ticket, to skiers age five and up and snowboarders six and up. Each one-hour lesson is conducted in a group format. The mountain also offers its Pete’s Pals package, which caters to kids age 4 and under.
“We chose to honor a little of our history, by naming the Valley View learning area after the Valley View Restaurant, which used to be located at the top of Mount Peter years ago,” said Sampson-Cutler.
True to its name, the new Valley View learning area also offers incredible vistas of Warwick’s beautiful landscape.
Mount Peter is located at 51 Old Mount Peter Road in Warwick, New York. Visitors may check the latest trail openings and conditions by calling the Mount Peter Snow Phone at (845) 986-4992.
