WARWICK, N.Y. (October 11, 2018) – Mount Peter, New York’s family mountain, has added a new team member in anticipation of the upcoming 2018-2019 season. Haley Ripa, a Rock Hill, New York native, has joined Mount Peter’s marketing and sales force.
Ripa is a graduate of The College at Brockport (SUNY), where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Leisure Studies with a concentration in Tourism Management. She has been skiing since the age of three.
“Not only does Haley have a lifelong love of the sport as both a recreational and competitive skier, but her knowledge of our industry, and specifically her focus on tourism, makes her a perfect fit here,” said Carol Forshay, Marketing Director at Mount Peter. “I know Haley’s knowledge and voice will be a huge asset as we continue to share the story of Mount Peter and attract more and more new guests every year.”
Ripa spent her childhood skiing at venerable Catskills ski areas Belleayre Mountain and Holiday Mountain, eventually racing with the Belleayre Mountain Race Association and the Monticello Varsity Ski Team during her high school years. She spent the winter of 2018 as a blogger for I SKI NY, traveling around New York State’s ski areas and recounting her adventures online.
“That’s when I realized that the ski industry was where I wanted to be,” said Ripa. “I’m excited to join the Mount Peter team, and can’t wait for the ski season to start.”
Mount Peter will be hosting a two-day job fair on October 20 and 21, which coincides with the ski area’s 25th Annual Great American Ski Sale. Anyone interested in working at the ski area during the 2018-2019 season is invited to stop in to explore job opportunities, share their resumes and apply. The ski sale itself features deeply discounted inventory from Ski Barn, as well as fall-themed fun for the whole family.
