— Troopers attend high-performance driving program —
Monticello, NY (May 4, 2011) – On April 25, 2011 Monticello Motor Club (MMC) hosted five New York State Troopers from the Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) Training Division in Albany, NY for MMC’s High Performance Driving Experience. The full-day event consisted of highly skilled driving techniques and utilized MMC’s fleet of 556-HP supercharged V-8 Cadillac CTS-V performance automobiles. The EVOC course is a 100-hour driver-training program that provides NYS Trooper recruits with the special driving skills required to operate a vehicle under very demanding police patrol conditions. Students are tested for visual acuity, glare recovery and reaction time. Additionally, the recruits receive classroom and hands-on driver training in a controlled environment (NYSP Driver Training Facility) and on public highways.
The primary objective for the Troopers’ attendance at MMC was to gain a better understanding of vehicle dynamics and car control from an independent and objective viewpoint. Based on the success of this program, Monticello Motor Club may be utilized as a future training location for EVOC Instructors.
The class was conducted by Monticello Motor Club’s Jason Holehouse, Chief Instructor, and Sam Schultz, Track Director—both professional race car drivers and well-respected in racing circles.
