NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. (May 4, 2012) – Mohonk Mountain House, a National Historic Landmark resort and Historic Hotel of America located in New York’s Hudson Valley, has joined the Hudson Valley Food & Beverage Alliance as a founding member.

Owned and operated by the Smiley Family since its founding in 1869, Mohonk Mountain House has provided guests with recreation and renewal of body, mind and spirit in a beautiful natural setting for 143 years. The resort is located on 1,200 acres in the midst of a 40,000-acre natural area.

The hotel and resort is joining the Hudson Valley Food & Beverage Alliance to bring its hospitable name and unique allure to an already rich market of renowned products and services associated with the industrious Hudson Valley region.

“We are honored to be among the founding members of the Hudson Valley Food & Beverage Alliance,” said Bert Smiley, President of the Mohonk Mountain House. “Since 1869, my family has been involved with tourism and land stewardship in this remarkable region. We look forward to exploring new opportunities and initiatives with our Food & Beverage Alliance partners.”

The Food & Beverage Alliance focuses on helping food and beverage companies in the region work together as strong partners and market their products all over the United States. Launched by the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. (HVEDC), the organization includes food businesses, farmers, vegetable growers, beverage makers, distributors and other organizations in the industry.

With both Old World charm and modern amenities, outstanding recreation and customized group activities, Mohonk Mountain House embodies the traditional culture of the Hudson Valley area. The Victorian-style resort has received many accolades, including being named one of “The World’s Best Places to Stay” by the Condé Nast Traveler 2012 Gold List, one of the “Ten Best Spa Trips for 2012” by Fodor’s and one of Travel and Leisure’s “World’s Best Hotels for Families.”

Mohonk Mountain House also features a wealth of year-round recreation, including a spectacular skating pavilion, rock climbing and 85 miles of trails for seasonal hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The grounds feature exquisite gardens, a nine-hole golf course, tennis courts and stables for horseback riding and horse-drawn carriage rides. The resort resides on the glacial-formed Lake Mohonk, making it ideal for boating, fishing and swimming.

“Mohonk Mountain House brings so many unique and celebrated concepts of the Hudson Valley to our organization,” says Mike Oates, President and CEO of the HVEDC. “The Food & Beverage Alliance stands to gain respect and praise from the resort’s stellar history of exceptional hospitality and long-standing name, which have brought national attention to the Hudson Valley and organizations in the area. We are proud to partner with them.”
