ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. (Nov. 21, 2022) – When you’re looking for the perfect Christmas tree, follow the fragrance of live and freshly-cut pines, firs and spruce to one of Orange County, N.Y.’s many holiday tree farms.

Whether you want to cut a tree down yourself or pick from a wide variety of freshly cut trees, the farms are your destination! With so many options, you’ll find the right tree to bring holiday cheer, serve as a table centerpiece or star as the focal point of your Christmas decor.

“Let Orange County, N.Y., be where your holiday season begins!” said Orange County Tourism & Film Director Amanda Dana. “Wander among the trees and cut your own, or choose a freshly cut tree. While you’re here, shop for wreaths, decorations, farm-crafted goodies and unique gifts for everyone.”

Locations below are among the many popular Christmas tree farms in Orange County, N.Y.

Emmerich Tree Farm, 101 Sleepy Valley Road, Warwick: Choose from 12 varieties of spruce, fir and pine, then browse the wreaths and unique holiday décor and gifts. Many gifts are from local farmers and New York State artisans. Reservations are required weekends through Dec. 11.

Manza Family Farm, 730 Route 211, Montgomery: Peruse a large selection of freshly cut Douglas, Fraser and Turkish fir trees, up to 12 feet tall. Living spruce and fir trees, ready to plant after the holidays, are also available. Or cut your own Norway spruce tree, 7 or 8 feet tall. Wreaths, roping, table pieces and holiday gift items are available. Enjoy the Christmas display as well as hot drinks, food and baked goods. Santa Claus greets visitors Friday, Nov. 26 and weekends through Dec. 19 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., offering free coloring books and candy canes to each child. Pony rides on Saturdays, horse-drawn wagon rides Sundays. Open daily, Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Rocky Bar Farms, 52 Rocky Bar Road, Westtown: Choose and cut your own Douglas fir, white spruce or blue spruce and shop for wreaths and decorations. Open 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. weekends Nov. 26 through Dec. 11. Dec. 17 and 18 will be open in the event of inclement weather on previous weekends. Check the Facebook page for updates.

Stone Oak Tree Farm, 207 Stony Bar Road, Slate Hill: Enjoy wandering more than eight acres of trees to find the one that’s perfect for you. Handmade wreaths, homemade cookies, variety breads, local honey, soaps and bundles of wood are for sale in the timber-frame barn, built by hosts Rich and Natalie Onorati. Warm up by the roaring fireplace with a free cup of hot chocolate and a candy cane. Open weekends after Thanksgiving through Christmas, 10 a.m. – dusk. Call for weekday appointments.

Sumner’s Wintergreen Tree Farm, 123 Brola Road, Middletown: The choose-and-cut tree farm’s best selections will be Fraser firs with some Concolor firs. Open Saturday, Dec. 3 and Sunday, Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Can’t make it that weekend? Check for updates on availability.

Wright Family Farm, 329 Kings Highway, Warwick: Choose from a premium selection of fresh cut Fraser fir and Balsam fir trees, from tabletop size to 12 feet tall. Then relax with free hot chocolate and cookies. Tree stands are available for purchase. Christmas tree season begins Friday, Nov. 25, the day after Thanksgiving. Thursday and Friday, 2 p.m. – 7 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
