Teachers to learn about the theme park’s outstanding educational programming
GOSHEN, N.Y. (Oct. 28, 2016) — LEGOLAND® New York will demonstrate the many education programs to be available to area school districts, through the proposed park’s educational division, at a special event on Nov. 9.
The information reception for Hudson Valley Educators will take place at the Palacio Catering and Conference Center, 1700 Route 17M in Goshen from 5 to 7 p.m. and will acquaint area teachers and school district administrators about the theme park’s outstanding educational programming.
“Our team is looking forward to showing our exciting, cutting edge, STEM-centric LEGO® curriculum, which will be available through the proposed LEGOLAND New York for the benefit of student enrichment and enhancement of teacher curriculum,” said Phil Royle, head of Community & Project Relations for LEGOLAND® New York. “We take education seriously and for this event we are bringing key employees from LEGOLAND® Florida Resort to Goshen to meet with teachers and show our fantastic programs.”
LEGOLAND Park’s educational programming engages preschool, elementary and secondary school students in subjects from science to humanities. Programs such as FIRST® LEGO® League Jr. and FIRST LEGO League are international inquiry-based educational programs that not only reinforce the importance of a STEM education, but support core life skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and teamwork.
Teachers will learn about and take part in demonstrations on these programs: Tall Towers for Grades K-3; Story Starter for Grades K -1; Milo’s Journey for Grades K-4; and Amazing Machines for Grades 3-6.
In addition, middle school and high school teachers will learn about the LEGO MINDSTORMS® Program.
At the reception, attendees will learn more about LEGOLAND New York’s free annual passes to all Orange County educators and LEGOLAND New York’s $15 per student field trips.
“LEGOLAND makes substantial commitments to local communities,” Royle added. “We are completely committed to providing not only solid entertainment, but challenging and fun educational programming that will benefit learning at all ages.”
Refreshments and appetizers will be served. Space is limited. Reservations should be made by Nov. 7 emailing to: phil.royle@LEGOLAND.com.
