MIDDLETOWN, NY (July 18, 2013) – Judelson, Giordano & Siegel, CPA, PC, (JGS), a full service accounting and business consulting firm for more than 80 years, has announced that Jason T. Giordano, CPA, MST, presented at a June 25th Orange County Chamber of Commerce special event educating local businesses on the financial changes and requirements of the coming health care reform from the Affordable Care Act.
Giordano spoke about the coming financial and tax implications for both large and small businesses of the enacted Affordable Care Act to more than 50 chamber members. He presented alongside Rose & Kiernan’s Dan Colacino.
The Affordable Care Act implements new taxes and penalties to fund the cost of health coverage. The act also provides tax credits for small businesses and includes individual health insurance premium tax credits. Under the Affordable Care Act employers requires employers to report the cost of coverage made available to an employee by an employer under any group health plan, including a self-insured plan.
“With the deeply involved changes being implemented by the Affordable Care Act and the federal government, local business owners need to be aware of how their businesses will be affected by healthcare reform and this was our opportunity to show our fellow chamber members how to prepare,” said Giordano, a shareholder of Judelson, Giordano & Siegel.
