Calls on the Jewish community to join them in traditional celebration of food and family
April 28, 2011 (Newburgh, N.Y.) – The Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County is celebrating the 63rd birthday of Israel with a traditional community barbeque for all to enjoy.
On Tuesday, May 10, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., The Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County will celebrate Israel’s Ha’atzmaut, or Independence Day, at Temple Beth Jacob, 344 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, N.Y. The day’s activities will include a barbeque and party with traditional Israeli music and dancing.
“Israeli Independence Day is a very important milestone to the Jewish Community,” said Joyce Waschitz, executive director at The Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County. “It is a day of pride and reflection on the accomplishment of the Jewish state and The Jewish Federation is welcoming everyone in the community to join us in this grand celebration!”
To pre-register for the event, please contact The Jewish Federation at (845) 562-7860, or visit www.jewishorangeny.org The first 50 families that pre-register for the event will be awarded free t-shirts donning the tagline “Israel, since 1948.” Dinner will be served and dietary laws will be strictly observed.
Waschitz added, “The Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County is dedicated to building the Jewish community, to nurturing the quality of Jewish life and to securing a favorable Jewish future in Orange County, Israel and worldwide. We’re committed to achieving these goals and look forward to continue our cultural commitment to Orange County and the Jewish faith.”
In addition to local festivities, the Jewish Federation will continue celebrating into June, as it will offer transportation to and from the 2011 Salute to Israel Parade for Orange County residents on Sunday, June 5, in New York City. Transportation is free to parties who preregister at the Jewish Federation website before Tuesday, May 10.
