JEWISH FEDERATION ANNOUNCES NEW MEMBERS FOR BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Newburgh, N.Y. (July 25, 2012) The Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County (JFOGOC) is pleased to announce that three new members have been elected to its Board of Trustees. Terri Small of Goshen, and Michael Schwartz and Stefanie Pearl of Newburgh were recently inducted as the organization’s newest board members.

A Certified Public Accountant for Stanley Marks & Co, LLP in Newburgh, Small is married to Richard Shapiro, a partner at Blustein, Shapiro, Rich & Barone law firm in Goshen. Small and her family are longtime active members of Temple Sinai in Middletown.

Michael Schwartz worked in the Healthcare service industry until his retirement in 2003. He is currently the Vice President of Congregation Agudas Israel, of which he and his wife, Carol, are members. Schwartz is also a board member of the Newburgh Jewish Community Center.

Stefanie Pearl is the publishing editor of the online magazine Happy Hudson Valley and is a lifelong member of Temple Beth Jacob.

“The Federation is committed to the core Jewish values of justice and charity; repairing the world, and Jewish unity,” explained Schwartz. “They are an incredible organization that does wonderful things for communities, not only locally, but around the world, and I’m proud to be a part of each and every one of their initiatives.”

The Board of Directors of the JFOGOC embodies a deep commitment to building and supporting an inclusive Jewish community. Toward that end, the Board includes Jewish individuals of all backgrounds, denominations and orientations. Board members are committed to Jewish youth, to building future Jewish leadership and improving the human condition of its community members of all ages.

Through its Annual Campaign, the Federation raises funds to support vital educational and social service programs for people in need in Orange County, in Israel, and throughout the world. It provides services for the elderly; day care for toddlers; relief to families in distress; rescue for families in the former Soviet Union; resettlement services for people immigrating to Israel; and Jewish education and culture for our entire community.
