Move by PBC to stay in Somers is sign of Hudson Valley’s attraction for business

NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. – March 24, 2011 – Pepsi Beverages Company’s decision to stay in Somers illustrates that the Hudson Valley is the place to be for business, said Mike Oates, CEO of the region’s chief economic development arm, the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation.

PBC will maintain its headquarters in 540,000 square feet at 1 Pepsi Way in Somers, Westchester County. The project is the culmination of the tireless efforts of Governor Cuomo, Empire State Development Corporation, Senator Schumer, Senator Gillibrand, Westchester County Executive Astorino, community and state leaders, and property owner Murray Hill Properties in making an aggressive case to PBC about the benefits of New York State and the Hudson Valley. PBC is the type of company that belongs in New York.

“HVEDC is thrilled that the Pepsi Beverages Company has decided to retain its headquarters in Somers,” said Mike Oates, president and CEO of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation.  “We applaud Governor Cuomo’s efforts to create a business friendly environment that would appeal to such an important global company. This is clearly exciting news for not only Westchester County but also for the entire Hudson Valley. Pepsi has proven itself a global business powerhouse and a tremendous corporate citizen. This is an important step in the relaunching of New York as the prime location for business.”  HVEDC will slice through bureaucracy and find incentives
