HVEDC BOARD WELCOMES HISTORICAL PRESERVATION EXPERTISE OF ROBERT C. WETENHALL

NEW WINDSOR, N.Y. (June 21, 2012) – Bob Wetenhall, a businessman with an interest in historic preservation and for many years the owner of the historic Castle Rock property in Garrison, New York, has been named to the board of directors of the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp. (HVEDC).

Mr. Robert C. Wetenhall, a well known New York businessman and one of the founding members of McConnell, Wetenhall & Co., Inc., and founding member of The Wetenhall Group, a New York private investment company, having holdings in securities, real estate and technology companies, has joined forces with the HVEDC in developing the valley’s economic future, as he continues to renovate and restore the Castle Rock property. He has been very active in New York philanthropic affairs, having served as a trustee of Lennox Hill hospital for nearly 25 years along with other charitable activities.

He maintains several homes in New York, having spent a significant amount of his business activities here while overseeing the family’s interests in Palm Beach, Florida and Montreal, Canada. By way of background, he was one of the original owners of the New England Patriots and in recent decades has been the owner of the Montreal Alouettes, giving him opportunities to be involved with young people, which is one of his personal interests. His two sons, both having management positions in New York financial institutions, join him in his interest in the preservation of the valley.

“I am delighted to accept Mike Oates’ invitation to join with him in promoting the continuing revival of the valley along with my activities in finishing the restoration of the iconic Castle. The property continues to be a highlight of the history of our country dating all the way back to the Revolutionary War and, when completed, it is one of my goals to have this wonderful building accessible to more people, especially to children, so that they can better understand our background.”

It will be my pleasure to contribute in however small a way to the initiatives of the HVEDC as they continue to maintain and enhance the valley’s wonderful expression of our history. It does such very good work.”

HVEDC works to develop economic growth throughout the Hudson Valley region, which includes the counties of Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, Orange, Ulster and Sullivan.

“We are pleased to announce that Mr. Wetenhall will be joining our board of directors,” said Mike Oates, CEO and President of HVEDC. “He is someone who has a long history of successful historic preservation and business endeavors throughout New York and beyond, and he will be a major asset to HVEDC as we work to foster business growth in the Hudson Valley.”
