Area WWII and Korean War veterans invited to apply
WALDEN, N.Y. (Jan. 31, 2019) — Hudson Valley Honor Flight is seeking veterans for its spring flights taking place on Saturday, April 13 and Saturday, May 11.
The April flight will depart from New York Stewart International Airport in New Windsor and the May flight will depart from Westchester County Airport in White Plains. Flights will take veterans on an all-expense paid trip to visit our nation’s war memorials. Veterans will travel by a police escorted bus convoy while in D.C. for the daylong trip and return to NY that evening.
All area World War II and Korean War veterans from the following counties who have not previously taken part in a Hudson Valley Honor Flight are eligible to participate: Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, Westchester, Rockland, Sullivan, Putnam, Pike (Pa.), Bergen (N.J.), and Fairfield (Conn.). In addition, veterans who served in the time between World War II and the Korean War are eligible to participate. Applications can be found online at www.hvhonorflight.com.
“Flight season is upon us and we are anxious to fill our two spring flights to D.C.,” said Chairman Frank Kimler. “We are currently making arrangements for Missions 22 and 23. We are seeking veterans to join us for these two unforgettable days of honor, thanks and maybe a few surprises. We know they’re out there! We are so grateful to ShopRite for their continued generosity and support of all of our missions. It’s such an honor for us and our volunteers to escort our heroes on this trip to our nation’s capitol.”
