WALDEN, N.Y. (March 16, 2020) — We regret to announce that due to the current COVID-19 (Coronavirus) health crisis, Hudson Valley Honor Flight has made the difficult decision to postpone our two upcoming spring flights.
We know that our veteran applicants are anxiously awaiting their opportunity to take part in this special day. This heartbreaking decision was made after much debate. However, the health and safety of our veterans are our No. 1 priority and we could not in good conscience move forward with our spring flight plans.
In addition, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) have both stated that adults over the age of 60 are particularly at risk of infection and should avoid all non-essential air travel. The vast majority of our veterans fall into this high-risk category.
We have tentatively rescheduled our two May 2020 flights for dates in the fall. Our flight from Westchester County Airport will now take place September 19 and our flight out of New York Stewart International Airport will now take place October 10.
“We at Hudson Valley Honor Flight are deeply saddened that we have to postpone our flights until the fall. However, our next flight dates will be here before we know it and our team will continue to honor our veterans with an experience of a lifetime. We also want to thank the entire Hudson Valley community for its patience and continued support for our faithful and blessed mission,” said Frank Kimler, Chairman.
