HVHF’s Lunch of Honor returns Dec. 4, 2022 to Resorts World Catskills. The annual event, on hiatus for the last three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the closing of Anthony’s Pier 9 restaurant in Newburgh, provides a formal lunch, live music and dancing for local veterans, friends, family and supporters. All are welcome to attend. HVHF veteran alumni attend for free. For more information, please visit hvhonorflight.com/lunch.
Thanks to the generosity of ShopRite and many other donors and volunteers HVHF was able to provide four flights in 2022. Applications for future flights can be found at hvhonorflight.com/how-to-participate. Priority is given to World War II and Korean War veterans; however, all veterans who have not yet participated in an Honor Flight are encouraged to apply.
HVHF provides a once-in-a-lifetime flight to Washington, D.C., where veterans are transported around the district by bus to visit the various war memorials, attend a dinner in their honor and then return home. Each veteran is escorted by a personal guardian and the HVHF flight team for the day-long trip. Honored veterans fly free! Guardians pay a fee of $500.
