Attendees enjoy autobiographical love-story featuring songs from the Great American Songbook
GOSHEN, N.Y. (February 22, 2018) – On Wednesday, February 14, approximately 70 people gathered in the Rhinebeck Room at Glen Arden for a live musical performance entitled Until We Met Again: A Love Story.
The musical autobiography, performed by husband-wife duo Richard Flanders and Anne Tarpey-Flanders, combined vocal performance and storytelling into a heart-warming, cabaret-style show that recounted what the couple calls their “lost and found” romance. Piano accompaniment was provided by musical director, Matthew Martin Ward.
“We laughed and had tears in our eyes with the beautiful sentiment of their love story,” said Lois DiStefano, Glen Arden’s Director of Sales. “This was a wonderful addition to our performance calendar here at Glen Arden, and perfect for Valentine’s Day.”
Anne and Richard met in 1960’s New York, as students at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Life intervened and the two parted ways, but neither forgot their romance. Over 40 years later, a chance reunion rekindled their love. The pair married in 2013 wedding, and have been living happily ever after since.
The performance received a standing ovation, and Glen Arden guest Nettie Scherme gave a one word review, “Awesome!”
“The show was excellent and uplifting,” added Stephanie Lenti. “It was a very professional presentation that was wonderfully done.”
The Valentine’s Day event was part of Glen Arden’s ongoing series of entertainment, educational and social events for residents and their guests.
