Local Event to Take Place on Sunday, May 27, 2018
LIBERTY, N.Y. (May 16, 2018) – On your mark, get set…and grab your tools! It’s that time of year when the streets in the Town of Liberty are lined with soap box racers. Sullivan County’s 7th Annual Soap Box Derby will take place on Sunday, May 27, 2018. Racers, spectators and volunteers are encouraged to attend for a day filled with lots of fun and excitement for all to enjoy.
The race begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. on North Main Street and continues throughout the day. There will be food vendors on-site as well as a booth filled with goodies courtesy of Liberty ShopRite. Those interested in volunteering to help with the race should contact Carol Vandenberg at 845-292-5770.
“The children that are participating in this year’s event have worked hard for many months to prepare for this day,” said Brian P. Rourke, Town of Liberty Supervisor. “Whether building their soap box car with a parent of group of peers, each racer has made memories that will last a lifetime.”
