Receives additional five-star awards for Coronary Care
Middletown, NY – Garnet Health Medical Center, formerly Orange Regional Medical Center, has been recognized as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention according to new research released by Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems.
“We are proud to be among the best and to achieve this distinguished recognition for five consecutive years,” said Chief Executive Officer Brian Tew. “It’s an outstanding accomplishment that illustrates the level of high quality care we provide.”
The hospitals that have achieved the Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention have demonstrated exceptional quality of care. From 2017 through 2019, patients treated at hospitals receiving the America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Coronary Intervention Award have, on average, a 46.5 percent lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award. Additionally, patients treated at hospitals that did not receive the award were 1.87 times more likely to die than if they were treated at hospitals that received the award.
Garnet Health Medical Center was also recognized as a Five-Star recipient for Coronary Intervention Procedures for five consecutive years, which means patients treated for coronary intervention procedures experienced statistically significant lower rates of mortality.
Additionally, Garnet Health was recognized as a Five-Star recipient for Treatment of Heart Attack for four consecutive years which means patients treated for Heart Attacks experienced statistically significant lower rates of mortality when treated at Garnet Health Medical Center.
For its analysis, Healthgrades evaluated approximately 45 million Medicare inpatient records for nearly 4,500 short-term acute care hospitals nationwide to assess hospital performance in 32 common conditions and procedures. Healthgrades recognizes a hospital’s quality achievements for cohort-specific performance, specialty area performance, and overall clinical quality. Individual procedure or condition cohorts are designated as 5-star (statistically significantly better than expected), 3-star (not statistically different from expected) and 1-star (statistically significantly worse than expected).
