GOSHEN, N.Y. (Sept. 10, 2015) – Focus Media – the Hudson Valley’s largest and award-winning, full-service public relations and marketing firm – is proud to support upcoming community events.
Focus Media President and CEO Josh Sommers and Vice President Lisa Sommers are co-chairing the American Cancer Society’s Monster Bash on Friday, Sept. 25 beginning at 6 p.m. at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor.
The Monster Bash is the American Cancer Society’s annual major fundraiser for the Hudson Valley region. The event honors three individuals and/or organizations for their efforts in raising funds to fight back against cancer and/or raising awareness of the disease, as well as volunteering time and effort for the cause.
This year’s corporate honorees are Orange Regional Medical Center and Central Hudson Gas & Electric, with the Volunteer Recognition Award being presented to Joan Pagones, long-time American Cancer Society Board Member and current Board President.
“The evening takes a fun and unique approach at raising funds to create a world with more celebrations,” said Co-Chair Lisa Sommers. “It is unlike any other fundraiser in the Hudson Valley. This year’s mission auction will be focused on raising funds for Road to Recovery, a program that provides rides to area cancer patients so that they may receive treatment and is in urgent need of additional support.”
Co-Chair Josh Sommers will be spinning the evening’s music as the gala’s DJ. Additionally, attendees are encouraged (but not required) to wear costumes or masks to the event. Sponsorship opportunities and tickets are still available. For more information, visit www.thebirthdaybash.org or call 585-224-4928.
The Sommers duo are also co-chairing the Greater Hudson Valley family Health Center’s 16th Annual Pillars of the Community Awards Gala on Saturday, Nov. 7, also at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor.
The gala is the Health Center’s most significant fundraiser, with proceeds providing access to affordable, quality health care to more than 23,000 patients, in addition to supporting underfunded programs and services.
“Proceeds from last year’s gala are supporting the purchase of a new mobile health unit and the underwriting of hearing aids for the health center’s Medicaid seniors,” said Co-Chair Josh Sommers, who was honored last year as an Outstanding Community Pillar. “I’ve seen the tremendous work of this organization and I’m honored to be aligned with a group which does so much good for our community.”
This year, Richard “RJ” Smith will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Pillar to recognize his lifelong passion for community service and business excellence.
Outstanding Community Pillars will be presented to Peter Berman, the award-winning entrepreneur and community leader who is chief executive officer of The Ruby Group, and Access Supports for Living, formerly known as Occupations, Inc., which has made a positive difference in developmentally disabled lives for more than 50 years.
